I signed up my dog GG for the care club and have basically received nothing over the past year. I did this mainly to cover her teeth cleaning.

When I scheduled the teeth cleaning (which is included with signing up for the $50 per month care club cost) there were many "add-ons" that were not included in that service. "anesthesia, medications, etc. After that I called within a few months to take advantage of the other covered services that were to be included in this "club". I wanted a routine exam.

they told me if nothing was wrong with GG don't bring her in.

I just called about having her nails trimmed and was told that was not a covered service. this has been the biggest waste of money and I am in the process of cancelling this service.

Reason of review: Warranty issue.

VCA Animal Hospitals Cons: Care club was ripoff.

Clearly you didn't read what it covers. Cause I just signed up and that was clear to me. It's for wellness, vaccines, office visits, and blood tests as annual physical makes it necessary

Thx for letting us know this is a rip off!

VCA Care Club is not a pet insurance like I was told at sign up. It is a membership to a club that allows you certain services for the year.

If you cancel before the year is up, you will be charged the remaining balance on the account. Club membership is automatically renewed.

You need to call your VCA Hospital to cancel or stop auto renew. This plan does not cover any major issues with your pet.

It doesn't cover medication or Hospital stays. It's only for routine checkups and vaccines.

It took me about 8 months to finally get through to someone to cancel my careclub. I had to call corporate just to finally talk to someone.

The careclub is great for breaking up the financial responsibility of a large bill. (why I got it in the first place) other than that, HUGE waste of money. Anytime I actually took my dog to the vet, almost nothing was covered except for the actual visit. They also closed down the only VCA near me and never gave careclub holders a heads up or anything.

They continued to charge me every month while I didn't even have a VCA anywhere near me.

Finally someone today said they cancelled my policy and I would be refunded. We will see...

I hate this careclub membership, and I can’t find anywhere how to cancel it. Does anyone know how?

Contact your vca. Depending On when you signed up and what services you’ve already used, you may be asked to pay a fee to cancel the plan as you have used services as a discounted rate and signed a contract.

I totally agree with you. Every time I call to make an appointment they say they don’t have any available appointments.

I am paying $97. A month and can’t even get in. Unbelievable . It does not cover medications or basic services.

They don’t seem too concerned They said it only covers well checks but I can’t even get an appointment. Wish I had never signed up I have canceled auto renewal.

Looks like I am stuck paying for it. Waste of money total rip off

How about taking into consideration that Covid has effected all veterinary clinics wait times? Care Club doesn’t make any client a priority over any other clients, it is a wellness plan that gives you discounted services.

how did you cancel auto renewal?

Amen. They somehow swindled me into renewing for a second year without warning.

Now I’m desperately trying to prevent this from happening again as we’re coming up on the two-year mark.

More than $4,000 already spent. Major ripoff.

Ha. I’m paying $177.99 per month for a senior dog. Complete ripoff, and entirely deceptive practice to autorenew for an entire contract year without warning and also hike up the price since last year

Had our dog enrolled in Care Club for 7 years, hardly ever used it during the year except for shots and teeth cleaning so we tried to cancel because the cost is expensive every month, (almost $80.00) for a 5lb dog. We called to cancel yesterday and was shocked to find out we would have to pay ($360) for full payments of the years of service, because under the care club apparently you get services at a discounted price.

This is ludicrous! they don't tell you that when you sign up. We were told all care is covered by the plan we took, except of course if anything involved a surgery and such things. Our dog only required shots, and teeth cleaning once a year.

Our payments were automatically deducted from our bank so there was never any lapse there. We are absolutely floored that this business would hold their customers hostage and try to extort money when trying to cancel your account. It's obvious they are scamming people by keeping you in bondage to their greedy ways. I would definitely NOT recommend this business to anyone.

Easy to get into but hard to get out of, an HONEST business wouldn't be run that way. Be aware, you will have to pay full price for PAST services if you try to pull out of the Care Club.

If you decide to go ahead, at the very least ask questions about what I have informed you of, just so you are aware of the consequences. I don't believe they are registered with the "Better Business Bureau" please correct me if I am wrong.

Dr Ansem is the best!!! She has done surgery on one of my dogs, text me throughout the whole procedure to let me know how he was doing.

My other dog has now developed an autoimmune disease and im so thankful for her! She goes out of her way and is above and beyond .

she is very responsive and has helped me get through this horrible process!!! grateful

clearly this person didn't read through the contract before signing- but that hospital shouldn't have turned him away for an exam either!

I totally agree with you, it is the biggest ripoff ever. They took $80 out of my bank account every month, then, after about 6 months, when I took my cat in for a checkup, they still charged me $150 for the "add-ons." And membership only covers one animal, if you have others, you have to pay $80 per month for each one.

Complete and total ripoff and I am canceling my membership immediately. I thought vets did their job because of their love of animals but in reality, they are just as greedy and unscrupulous as anyone else.

I am cancelling as well. I don’t know why I even went back.

The veterinarians our pets have seen have been normal people with a love of animals. Vet care costs have increased because of the rising prices for drug and pharmaceutical products, while new technologies and the latest medical equipment are more expensive. I've never run into a rich veterinarian.

We have had an awesome experience with Care Club for our dog. It has made visits that would be $600+ out of pocket cost manageable through the monthly payment plan.

All his visits and shots are covered. Nail clippings weren’t covered either, but we really like this plan!

We saw the benefit as more of a budget plan than as access to additional services. So I guess it might be the perspective we had on it.

It's obvious from reading the comments, each VCA Hospital seems to have a different idea of what's included in the plan. Apparently the national headquarters has not sufficiently trained staff so that every VCA clinic has the same idea of what's covered. We have two cats and a dog all on plans and we have been very happy with the doctors and the plans.
